Clinton Community Library was founded in 1965 and provided service as a reading room until 2003 when it was granted a provisional charter status. The library was granted a permanent charter in 2018. It is part of the Town Hall and Justice Court complex, situated on eight acres with an adjacent nature trail and free parking.
The library’s collection includes a wide variety of adult fiction and non-fiction, a comprehensive children’s collection, YA books, a variety of DVDs spanning all genres, audio books, and a basic reference collection.
Our membership in the Mid-Hudson Library System gives our patrons access to a variety of online resources such as Transparent Language, Universal Class, Libby (ebook, audiobooks, videos, and digital magazines), genealogy resources, job help, practice exams and more. MHLS also allows us to share resources, so patrons can reserve materials from other libraries in the system and have them delivered to CCL.
CCL patrons also have access to online resources including Kanopy, Hoopla!, and CreativeBug. Patrons may also borrow hot spots, museum passes, and laptops. We have a number of STEAM-to-Go and Early Literacy kits that you can borrow to enhance your child’s learning.
The library offers a broad complement of community programming for all ages. Adult programs include monthly book discussion groups, computer help and training, lectures and author visits, wellness programs, and adult craft programs. We provide educational and entertaining children’s programming throughout the year including a weekly preschool story hour. Our award-winning Optimistic Aging series presents a variety of topics to motivate, teach, and inspire seniors with Lunch & Learn lectures, Tai Chi, and Chair Yoga classes, and opportunities to try new activities. Many programs require registration, which you can do directly on our calendar or by calling the library at 845-495-0655.
The library offers free WiFi and computers for public use. We also have laptops that you may check out. Faxing and scanning services are free. Photocopies are 10-cents per page.
To sign up for a library card, please present an ID (e.g., driver’s license) and proof of residence (e.g., postmarked letter).
Books and audiobooks may be checked out for 3 weeks. DVDs may be checked out for 1 week. To renew material call 845-495-0655, log in to your account online or ask at the circulation desk. CCL is a fine-free library.
