MISSION STATEMENT
The Clinton Community Library serves as a town community center, a sponsor of programs for all members of the community, a source for diverse reading materials and reference resources, and a learning center for children and adults.
VISION STATEMENT
CCL will meet the evolving and dynamic needs of the community and will be a center for community members to find resources, responsive services, information, technology, and programs that enhance and inspire learning, creativity, and civic engagement in a sustainable, accessible facility.
FOUNDATIONS
The Clinton Community Library was founded in 1965 to serve the Town of Clinton, which uniquely combines seven former hamlets and sends its children to five outside school districts. It began, with donated books, as a reading room in the loft of the Clinton Town Hall. In 1976 a new building, shared with the town, was dedicated to house the growing Clinton Community Library Reading Center, and finally in 2004 the Clinton Community Library was provisionally chartered, with a permanent charter granted in 2018. Today, CCL, housed in the same building on the town campus, is an Association Library under the laws of New York State and a 501(c)(3) organization under federal tax laws. Principal funding is through a budget vote referendum subject to approval by Town of Clinton voters, supplemented by grants and annual donations. CCL is a member of the Mid-Hudson Library System and provides its patrons with access to a robust collection of physical and online resources, programming, and community information and access.
