Book Club News

The Global Literature Book Club
Monday, June 21st at 7:00 PM
Masonic Hall & Online via GoToMeeting

The Global Literature Book Club discusses prize-winning novels from around the world, in translation, selected by members of the club. These works are challenging, but gratifying, and provide insights into a wide variety of nations, cultures, and styles of writing. The club meets monthly on Monday nights at 7 pm (currently via Go To Meeting). We welcome new members.

In June, the Global Literature Book Club will discuss Disoriental by Négar Djavadi, the story of a young girl and her family, at the core of an exploration of Iranian history. In this high-spirited, kaleidoscopic story, key moments of Iranian history, politics, and culture punctuate stories of family drama and triumph.

Please meet us at the Masonic Hall or email for the meeting link.

The Tea Time Book Club meets for tea and discussion of books that are chosen for diversity, genre variation, and often award-winners. Join us each month for a lively discussion and meet other readers in your community.

In June, the Tea Time Book Club will discuss Parakeet by Marie-Helene Bertino, a darkly funny and warm-hearted novel about a young woman whose dead grandmother (in the form of a parakeet) warns her not to marry and sends her out to find an estranged loved one.
