Lunch & Learn: History of Aviation

Enjoy lunch and a talk with Stewart Sommerville about the three primary periods of aviation featured at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome: the Pioneer Era (1903-1913), the World War One Era (1914-1918) and the Lindbergh Era, roughly (1920-1930). Special emphasis will be placed on the holdings and artifacts of the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, the technological development of the aeroplane and historical figures and personalities in the history of aviation.
Registration for lunch at 12:30 p.m. is full. All are welcome to join us for dessert and lecture at 1:00 p.m.
Stewart Sommerville is the Airshow and Events Manager at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. He has published several articles, interviews and book reviews on the History of Aviation and spends his spare time in the museum’s automobile restoration facility helping to keep the Aerodrome’s fleet of antique automobiles in running order.
