December Contra Dance

Contra Dance

Saturday, December 14th
4:30 PM Challenging Contra Dance
7:30 PM Beginner Workshop | 8:00 PM–11:00 PM Contra Dance

Location: Clinton Town Hall

Contra dances return in December! We’ll start with a challenging contra dance at 4:30 PM, followed by a potluck at 6:30 PM. This challenging contra dance is open to all but the skill level of the dances will be geared toward experienced dancers. “Experienced” means:

  • You know how to do a roll-away, California twirl, pass through to a wave, contra corners, and the basic moves without being taught
  • You know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and how to recover from a lapse
  • You assist your partner and neighbor to the next move
  • You execute flourishes safely and on time without disturbing others

What to expect? New moves, unusual choreography, no-walk through dances, medleys…plus great music and a great time!

Beginners can get started at 7:30 PM with a workshop, followed by the Dance from 8:00-11:00 PM. Admission: $10 ($5 with valid student ID). Please bring a snack to share for the potluck table.

Caller: Kathleen Anderson
Band: New Brew
